Tea Service at the Tanimoto Kei & Takashi Iga Ware Exhibition

I had the honor of serving tea at the joint exhibition of Kei Tanimoto and Takashi Tanimoto, a father-and-son team of distinguished Iga ware artists.

After enjoying the opportunity to admire the exceptional works of Iga ware by both artists, I would be delighted to offer you a bowl of tea.

Tea services held at department stores had been suspended for two years as part of measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. I am therefore particularly pleased that Keio Department Store Shinjuku decided to resume this tradition from April 21, and that I was entrusted with the honor of serving tea on its very first day back.

The tea service will be held on April 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Admission: Free

I had feared that the long-standing Japanese tradition of having a tea room within a department store, where visitors could pause to enjoy a bowl of tea, might disappear altogether. I am therefore especially delighted to see this cultural tradition revived.

Drawing on the experience and practices cultivated through the Tokyo Tower Morning Tea Ceremony, we will hold the tea service with thorough measures in place to prevent infection.

I sincerely hope you will come and enjoy both the remarkable Iga ware and a bowl of tea.
